Extraordinary Bodies' show, Weighting features a fully integrated community choir who perform alongside the professional cast.
We recruit each choir from the people in the city in which we are performing. Singers rehearse the finale song 'Moments and Memories' in the weeks leading up to the performance. Our amazing choirmaster Colin Rea leads the sessions and when the show comes to town, Extraordinary Bodies Sings become a part of our circus.
“Taking part in this choir has been amazing for me, my daughter and my grandchildren. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved taking part as a family.” Participant (Southwark)
“Being part of the Extraordinary Bodies choir has strengthened what I already knew that integration is to be greatly valued and that barriers can be broken down in our community”. Participant (Exeter)
Extraordinary Bodies Sings creates a legacy of widening access to music by encouraging the 'hard to reach' and 'hard to hear' to take part.
Anyone can join in regardless of gender, disability, class, caring responsibilities or background. Participants work with a live band, singer/songwriter and choirmaster to create these inspirational community choirs.
We've recently worked with a range of existing choirs, groups and individuals to form a community choir in Southwark. They performed in Weighting at Dulwich Festival and are reuniting for a one-off performance at Liberty Festival on 26th July 2015.
