Cupid and Psyche 2010
The Luton Hoo Hotel commissioned LSC to carefully clean the surface of this Mannerist marble.
The sculpture itself is 19th century Italian. Recently imported from Italy, expanding foam was used to protect its fragile structure in transit: unfortunately the sculpture's surface was not adequately protected from direct contact with the expanding foam, with consequent staining.
LSC carefully removed the intense discolourations and residue from these areas using V&A mix, wooden scrapers and dental tools.
