Moorgate Memorial Plaque, London2014
In early 2014 London Stone Conservation was approached by Transport for London to create a memorial for a tube accident that happened at Moorgate underground station in 1975.
We worked with Transport for London to design a plaque in their famous New Johnston typeface. Our memorial was hand carved in Welsh slate, with incised v-cut lettering. Great attention was taken to ensure that the traditional lettering skills worked with the more modern letterforms. Our client was delighted with the end result which has been installed at Moorgate underground station.
